Located in Shenzhen's Dapeng New Area, the National Genebank of China officially opened on September 22, which is the fourth national genebank in the world, following the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the United States, the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), and the DNA Database of Japan (DDBJ). According to Xinhua News Agency, the National Gene Bank has initially established the business structure and functions of "three banks and two platforms", which consists of a database of diverse biological samples and species genetic resources, a bioinformatics database and a living biological database, and the "two platforms" are a digital platform and a synthesis and editing platform. The genebank has the largest sample storage capacity, storage capacity, and accessible data volume in the world.
